James has been working with all runners from a brand new runner to breaking 3 hours in the marathon to multistage ultramarathons in the Sahara to 215-mile single-stage races across countries.

Having personally completed races of all distances From 5k and beyond including 50 and 100 mile mountain ultras to an Ironman to tick it off and most recently Marathon Des Sables a race in the Sahara dubbed the toughest foot race on earth and it was tough. 54-degree heat, endless dunes, Carrying 13kg of kit and self-sufficient minus water for 7 days covering 250kms with the longest day of 90kms.

My next big race is Race Across Scotland a 215-mile race in AUG 24, Brighton marathon in April and my first Back Yard Ultra in June.

James lives and breathes the outdoors and running spending the majority of his miles running trails around the Kent countryside.

We work remotely via our online coaching platform and in person. We have a fully equipped private training facility including state of the art 3d Gait Analysis system.

  • Blood lactate testing

    At Bay Run Coaching we can perform blood lactate testing.

    Why would you get a blood lactate test?

    • You want to train to heart rate but you know they are wildly inaccurate on your watch.

    • Training for an ultra and want to know what HR you can run hours without bonking.

    • Training for a marathon and want to be able to predict your marathon time and make sure you are training at the right intensity.

    • Do you want to identify weaknesses? Is your aerobic threshold really low or is your lactate threshold really low? Find out then prioritise and guide your training to improve these areas.

    James will produce a full report from our session including everything you need to know about HR Training, the physiological effects of training in each zone and a training plan to help you get as fit as possible for your racing.

    This is a 90-minute appointment.

  • 3d Gait Analysis Lab

    Using cutting-edge 3d gait analysis technology, We can analyse the way you run. The Motion Metrix system provides us with an incredible amount of data from foot strike to cadence to over stride but also joint angles and joint forces.

    First thing we do is have a chat about you, any re-occurring injuries, your training history and upcoming races and goals.

    The next stage of the process is to get you warmed up then to capture an initial analysis of you running on the treadmill. This only takes around 60 seconds then we can discuss the full report with you.

    From here we will head into the studio and give you personalised running drills and cues to address and optimise the data we found on the report to help you run further, faster and most importantly reduce the likelihood of injury.

    We have a 60 and 90-minute options the 60-minute involves just running in one pair of trainers we suggest your every day trainers you spend the most time in and for the 90 you can run in up to 3 pairs of trainers and different speeds most people bring their everyday trainers, race day shoes and speed work shoes.

    Your running form is very different at different speeds so if you race regularly then the 90 minute option is most suitable.
